Hospice Care Consultant
Elise Lawrence started her healthcare career at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital 30 years ago in the Admissions & Registration department, later moving into Marketing as a Physician Liaison. For the past 9 years she has worked as a hospice care consultant, providing education to patients, families and the community on end of life care.
Michelle has worked in the hospice field for more than nine years. This is her second career. She received a scholarship to the School of Visual Arts and was a successful graphic designer for many years.
While volunteering with an elderly home-bound woman from her church, Michelle began to see other possibilities for her future. She has a Master of Social Work degree from the Hunter College School of Social Work, and was the caregiver services coordinator for the Community Agency for Senior Citizens prior to moving into hospice.
She is a champion of the Compassus Inspiring Life Program, which uses donations to fund special events or items to improve the quality of life for patients and families. With the assistance of our dedicated team, she has hosted family reunions, hired musicians, created gift baskets and even painted ceiling tiles for bed-bound patients. Michelle received the New Jersey Hospice and Palliative Care Organization Social Worker of the Year Award in 2014.
