Celebrating Life Through Music: Compassus Indianapolis Hosts "A Musical Memories Orchestra"

Musical Memories Orchestra

Compassus’ Indianapolis, Indiana hospice program recently had the honor of celebrating and paying tribute to our patients and their families through a heartwarming concert by a local volunteer orchestra at the Compassus inpatient facility. This special event, called “A Musical Memories Orchestra,” brought together 45-60 volunteer musicians who graciously travel around Indianapolis, offering their musical talents to the families and loved ones of our hospice patients.

Families who attended expressed immense gratitude and enjoyed this unique opportunity to honor their loved ones. The soothing melodies and harmonious tunes created an atmosphere of reflection, love, and celebration, making it a memorable experience for all present.

The success of this event was made possible through the dedicated efforts of our volunteers and staff. Volunteers Nancy Russell and Bonnie Hand worked alongside our chaplain, Christopher Suder, and Theresa Anderson to greet families at the door, ensuring everyone felt welcomed and cared for. After the performance, they made sure that both the families and the orchestra were provided with refreshments, fostering a sense of community and togetherness.

Nancy Russell also added a touch of natural beauty to the event by providing gorgeous flowers from her own garden, which she thoughtfully placed around the refreshment area and near the chapel. This gesture not only enhanced the ambiance but also symbolized the love and care we strive to extend to our patients and their families.

The event was a true team effort, showcasing the dedication of our volunteers who not only provide companionship to our patients but also support events and bereavement care. Chaplain Christopher Suder exemplified continued compassion, ensuring that our bereaved contacts felt supported and cared for.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire Indianapolis program for their unwavering commitment to our ‘Care for Who I Am’ philosophy. Your dedication to our core values of compassion, integrity, excellence, teamwork, and innovation is truly inspiring.

Thank you to everyone involved for making “A Musical Memories Orchestra” a success and for your relentless efforts in bringing comfort and joy to our patients and their families.
