APRN Brings Specialized Palliative Experience to New Orleans Program

The Compassus program serving the New Orleans area announced the addition of Allison O’Quin, Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN), to the Compassus Community Palliative Care program.

O’Quin will provide palliative care consultations in patient’s homes, skilled nursing facilities, and group homes. In coordination with the patient’s primary care provider, she will also treat pain, distressing symptoms and stress related to the patient’s serious illness.

Palliative care consultations provide specialized medical care for people of any age during any stage of serious or chronic illness. These consultations can be provided together with curative treatment and focus on relieving the symptoms and stress of the illness.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to join a team of dedicated, compassionate professionals,” said Ms. O’Quin. “I look forward helping our team improve the quality of life of both patients and families with excellent care and support.”

Ms. O’Quin previously served as a Community Palliative Care APRN in Lafayette, La. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Nicholls State University, her Masters of Science degree in Nursing from University of Louisiana in Lafayette, is board certified in Adult Health and successfully completed specialized training in palliative care.
