Care Moment: Opal McCardle
Our Compassus — Hattiesburg, Mississippi, program beautifully demonstrated how the Compassus ‘Care for who I am’ culture embodies who we are as team members and how we provide compassionate care for our patients and their families. The family of recently admitted patient Opal McCardle who suffers from Alzheimer’s, and her son David who has special needs, had one important request—they did not want the mother and son to be separated. The Hattiesburg team worked diligently and found a nursing home placement that allowed both mother and son to be in the same facility. Thanks to the team, both mother and son have settled into their new environment. Most importantly, their family has a peace of mind knowing the bonded pair are well taken care of and exactly where they want to be—together.
