Golf Outing for June Lila
Sometimes, the moments we treasure most are tied to places that hold our favorite memories.
For June Lila, that place was the Wisconsin River Golf Course.
An avid golfer and long-time member of the Women’s League, June spent countless hours on the course she loved. She celebrated many accomplishments there over the years, achieving what many golfers only dream about: not one, but two holes-in-one in the same week, on hole 6 and hole 17.
As a hospice patient with Compassus, June often reminisced about her days on the fairways. She shared stories with her family about league play, friendships made on the course and the unforgettable excitement of watching her tee shot disappear into the cup on hole 17.
When the Plover, Wisconsin, Compassus team learned how much those memories meant to her, they worked alongside her family to make a special visit possible.
Together with her children, June returned to the Wisconsin River Golf Course one more time. Together, they traveled the back nine holes, taking in the familiar sights and sounds that had brought her so much joy through the years.
One stop was especially important.
As they arrived at the tee box on hole 17, June paused to reflect on the moment she scored one of her cherished holes-in-one. Standing where that memorable shot began, she smiled as she shared stories and laughter with her loved ones. For a few moments, the years seemed to melt away, replaced by memories of good swings, friendly competition and days spent doing what she loved.
The outing wasn’t about golf scores or trophies. It was about honoring a lifetime of memories, celebrating the experiences that shaped June’s story and surrounding her with the people who mattered most.
Moments like these reflect the heart of Compassus, listening to what brings meaning and joy to each person, honoring the lives they have lived and creating opportunities for connection, comfort and dignity along the way.
