Compassus Colleagues Recognized for Life-Saving Action

At the recent Cancer Services Dinner on Main in Midland, MI, two Compassus teammates from the Saginaw and Cass City hospice programs were honored for their quick and courageous actions that saved a man’s life.

Last April, during the Cancer Services Spring Soirée, a guest went into cardiac arrest after choking. Without hesitation, Area Executive of Clinical Operations Sondra Cunningham and Area Market Executive Nicole Potter immediately stepped in to begin CPR. Their teamwork restored a pulse and sustained life until EMS arrived.

Thanks to their swift response and skill, the guest made a full recovery. In a heartwarming moment, he was present at this year’s event to join in the celebration.

This recognition is a powerful reminder of the compassion, professionalism and dedication our teammates bring to every setting—whether at the bedside, in the community or beyond.

At Compassus, our value is in the compassion and expertise of our teams, which act as an extension of patients’ existing care teams. We believe everyone who interacts with us should experience our individualized Care for who I am philosophy, from the care services we provide to patients and families to how we interact with our partners and one another.
