Potential Employment Scam

Potential Employment Scam Alert

We’ve learned about an employment or job scam where individuals are targeting recruitment processes to deceive job seekers into giving personal or financial information.

In this type of scam, the “potential employer” may even go through some kind of interview process and offer employment. HOWEVER, they also ask for personal financial information as part of the hiring process. The information they want includes addresses, birth dates, bank account numbers, social security numbers and more. Please know that asking for personal or financial information during an interview or hiring process is NOT a legitimate hiring practice and Compassus is not involved in these incidents.

If you’ve never applied for a position with Compassus, or any affiliate of Compassus, we would not text to offer a position of employment and would never ask for personal or financial information during the job offer process. Employment offers will ONLY come from a compassus.com email address.

Before you provide ANYONE with any personal or financial information, here are some suggestions on how to verify whether an offer is valid:

  • Check to see that the position is posted on the potential employer’s website, not just on a third-party website.
  • Call the phone number provided on the employer’s official website and:
    • inquire with the HR department about the job opening.
    • ask to speak with someone who can provide information about the position.
    • request to be connected with the individual who contacted you to verify their association with the company or organization.
  • Verify the domain – If the person contacting you is NOT using a compassus.com email address, be suspicious.
  • If all communication is handled through an app or via text, be suspicious. Our recruiters may initially engage through text, phone or email, but will NOT offer positions or conduct interviews through text.
