White Mountains program recognized for excellence

LAKESIDE, Ariz. – The Compassus hospice program serving Lakeside, which ranked among the organization’s top three programs in the country, has been named a Compassus 2018 Program of Distinction.

In addition, two of the program’s hospice care consultants, Kerri Jones and Shasta Van Cleave, were honored for outstanding performance and inducted into the 2019 Compassus Presidents’ Circle at the Compassus National Medical Directors, Leadership and Presidents’ Circle Meeting last month.

Compassus – White Mountains received Program of Distinction honors for outperforming its peers in six Pillars of Success, which provide Compassus’ community-based programs across 30 states a common service vision based on measurable goals that continually lead to improving the quality of care for patients and their families.

“This recognition is a testament to the commitment of our leadership and the hard-working members of the Compassus – White Mountains team,” said Dr. Leon Driss, program medical director. “We are honored by this acknowledgement of our unwavering efforts to support the medical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and families by providing exceptional end-of-life care.”

The Compassus Presidents’ Circle is reserved for top-performing hospice and home health care consultants. Jones and Van Cleave are two of 67 inductees in this year’s Presidents’ Circle, all of whom have consistently expanded access to home health, palliative and hospice care in their communities.

Van Cleave was among six Presidents’ Circle recipients who also earned the Compassus Hospice Access Impact Award, a special recognition for extraordinary achievement in helping patients and their families navigate onto the hospice benefit in each year of her tenure.

“Shasta and Kerri ever-faithfully demonstrate their dedication to helping patients gain access to the care they need, improving quality of life at a very vulnerable time for both patients and their loved ones,” said Kammy Heuett, executive director of the Compassus – White Mountains program. “Their commitment is truly impactful, allowing us to demonstrate quality care in its best form, and an inspiration to their colleagues.”
