Southwest Missouri Program Named A 2019 Hospice Honors Recipient

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Compassus – Southwest Missouri program serving Springfield and Osceola has been named a 2019 Hospice Honors recipient by HEALTHCAREfirst, a provider of home health and hospice Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) surveys and advanced analytics.

Hospice Honors is an annual review program that recognizes hospice programs providing the highest level of quality as measured from the caregiver’s point of view by CAHPS survey performance.

“At Compassus, we strive to provide person-centered, physician-driven and team-based care for people facing a life-limiting illness or injury and their families. This recognition is particularly meaningful because we are evaluated from the perspective of the patient’s caregiver. It is an honor knowing our patients and their families feel satisfied with our team’s ability to meet their physical, spiritual and emotional needs at the end of life,” said Mandy Lawrence, regional vice president for Compassus. “We are thrilled to receive this honor and look forward to continuing to deliver the highest quality hospice and palliative care to our patients.”

Award recipients were judged on 24 quality indicator measures resulting from CAHPS Hospice surveys rating hospice care experiences during an evaluation period of October 2017 through September 2018. Performance scores were aggregated from all completed surveys and were compared on a question-by-question basis to a National Performance Score calculated from all partnering hospices contained in the HEALTHCAREfirst’s Hospice CAHPS database.

Compassus – Southwest Missouri scored above the HEALTHCAREfirst National Performance Score on at least 20 of the evaluated questions.
