Supporting Those Who Served: Honoring Veterans Beyond the Holiday

Veteran's Day

At Compassus and Ascension at Home together with Compassus in Tulsa, OK, compassion extends far beyond patient care—it reaches into the heart of the community.

For the past four years, Compassus Hospice Volunteer Coordinator Regina Marshall has collected donations for The Coffee Bunker, a local nonprofit organization that supports veterans in need through its food pantry and outreach programs. Over the last two years, Regina has rallied both of our Tulsa teams to join the cause, turning a personal act of kindness into a shared mission of gratitude and service.

This year, Regina filled her vehicle with donations from her teammates and was joined by Monique Burt, Home Health Care Transition Coordinator at Ascension at Home, whose son currently serves in the U.S. Navy. Together, they delivered food and essentials to The Coffee Bunker, where the veterans were deeply moved by the team’s generosity.

“Not only do we want to thank our veterans on Veterans Day,” Regina shared, “but we want to thank and support them every day.”

Through acts of compassion like this, our caregivers continue to demonstrate what it means to advance well-being and honor quality of life—for those we serve and for those who have served us.
