Compassus Mansfield Team Rallies to Support Patient in Need

When an 80-year-old home health patient caring for her disabled adult son shared that she had little more than the essentials in her home, Shannon Riggle, MSW, LSW, from the OhioHealth at Home in partnership with Compassus team in Mansfield, OH, knew she had to act.

Shannon sent out a simple email asking her teammates for help — and the response was overwhelming. The Mansfield home health team quickly gathered furniture, clothing, shoes, kitchenware and household supplies to support the family. With the help of local community resources, Shannon personally delivered the donations to the patient’s home.

“She cried happy tears and wanted to thank everyone who played a part in this,” Shannon shared.

Director of Clinical Services Kelli Eater, RN, added, “Shannon, thank you for coordinating this — it warms my heart! This is exactly what it means to live our Compassus values every day.”

Through teamwork, compassion and the simple act of caring, the Mansfield team transformed one family’s hardship into hope — proving once again that at Compassus, care extends far beyond the home visit.

At Compassus, our value is in the compassion and expertise of our teams, which act as an extension of patients’ existing care teams. We believe everyone who interacts with us should experience our individualized Care for who I am philosophy, from the care services we provide to patients and families to how we interact with our partners and one another.
