MERIDIAN, Idaho – The Compassus program serving Meridian hosted a Memorial Day remembrance event on May 23 at Copper Springs Senior Living to honor 15 veteran residents for their military service. The recipients represented four branches of the military, including Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps.
“Memorial Day is a time to acknowledge sacrifice, to grieve for those lost and to provide comfort and support for their loved ones,” said Vicki Brutsman, executive director of Compassus – Meridian. “Veterans deserve a respectful tribute, such as the pinning ceremony, to recognize their service and the meaning of that service to their life.”
The event included the presentation of an American flag pin and certificate of recognition to each veteran by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4000.
American Legion Post 113 presented the colors in a flag ceremony, and Crossroads Community Church Worship Leader Jordan Freiburghaus led performances of “America the Beautiful” and “God Bless America.”
