PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Compassus program serving Pittsburg and the surrounding areas recognized 15 hospice volunteers for providing companionship, support and dignity to hospice patients and their loved ones during a volunteer appreciation banquet on Saturday, April 22, at Sweet Creations Bakery. The event took place ahead of National Volunteer Week April 23-29.
Hospice volunteers, whether simply providing companionship or a listening presence, make a meaningful impact on patients and their families.
“We are proud to recognize all of our volunteers for their efforts to honor life and offer hope to individuals facing life-limiting illnesses by supporting them with compassion, integrity and excellence,” said Erin Ness, volunteer coordinator for Compassus – Pittsburg. “Volunteers help make our mission a reality here at Compassus, and I want to thank them all for their true dedication to those we serve.”
During the banquet, all volunteers were recognized for their contributions to the program. The 15 Compassus – Pittsburg volunteers donated a total of 467 hours in the last year.
