JOPLIN, Mo. – The Compassus program serving Joplin and the surrounding areas recognized 65 hospice volunteers for providing companionship, support and dignity to hospice patients and their loved ones during a volunteer appreciation banquet on Saturday, April 29, at the Southwest Missouri Bank Community Room. The event took place during National Volunteer Week April 23-29.
Hospice volunteers, whether simply providing companionship or a listening presence, make a meaningful impact on patients and their families.
“We are proud to recognize all of our volunteers for their efforts to honor life and offer hope to individuals facing life-limiting illnesses by supporting them with compassion, integrity and excellence,” said Teresa Severs, volunteer coordinator for Compassus – Joplin. “Volunteers help make our mission a reality here at Compassus, and I want to thank them all for their true dedication to those we serve.”
During the banquet, all volunteers were recognized for their contributions to the program. The 65 Compassus – Joplin volunteers donated a total of 2,197 hours in the last year. Several volunteers received special recognition for reaching milestone anniversaries at Compassus: 18 volunteers celebrated five years, seven celebrated 10 years and seven celebrated 15 years.
