CLINTON, Iowa – The Compassus program serving Davenport hosted a “Coffee with a Veteran” event on Friday, November 9, at Alverno Health Facility in Clinton, Iowa. This special event, held in conjunction with the observance of Veterans Day, offered community members the opportunity to hear stories from local veterans about their time in the service.
Compassus colleagues held coffee table discussions with patients, families and guests. Each of the 18 veterans in attendance wrote down a fact or memory about their service and shared it with attendees to give a glimpse into their experience as a service member. Veterans were also recognized with a certificate and a specially designed coffee cup.
“At Compassus, we find it extremely important to recognize a veteran patient’s service and the meaning of that service to their life,” said Patricia Christy, executive director of Compassus –Davenport. “This event is an opportunity for us to celebrate our nation’s heroes around Veterans Day, but we also believe in honoring them every day by providing them with the support, comfort and respect they deserve.”
