COLUMBIA, Tenn. – The Compassus program serving Giles, Hickman, Lawrence, Lewis, Marshall and Maury counties will host a free hospice volunteer training orientation on Thursday, October 11, at the Compassus – Columbia location.
Volunteers are an integral part of the Compassus care team and are relied on to provide support, companionship and dignity to members of the community facing serious and life-limiting illness.
“Every day, volunteers touch the lives of our patients and their families,” said Stephanie Nelson, volunteer coordinator for Compassus – Columbia. “Whether simply providing companionship or a listening presence, each gesture – no matter how small – makes a meaningful impact on those we serve.”
During orientation, volunteers will learn about many aspects of hospice care, including listening and communication skills, patient and family rights, spiritual and cultural diversity, and patient confidentiality.
Thursday, October 11
9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
830 Hatcher Lane

In addition to patient support openings, Compassus also has administrative volunteer opportunities.
