NEWNAN, Ga. – The Compassus hospice program serving Newnan and the surrounding areas is currently seeking volunteers to provide comfort and support to patients and families in need of end-of-life care.
“Volunteers, as dedicated members of our care team, help make it possible for us to accomplish our mission – to honor life and offer hope to individuals facing a life-limiting illness by supporting them with compassion, integrity and excellence,” said Sandra Shular, executive director of the Compassus program in Newnan, Georgia.
The mission of Compassus is to provide the highest quality and compassionate hospice care. By addressing the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs, Compassus enhances the quality of life of patients and their families. Volunteers are an integral part of the hospice care team and are relied upon to provide support, companionship and dignity to members of the community facing serious and life-limiting illness.
Compassus volunteers supplement the care provided by physicians and other medical staff by bringing companionship to people in the final months and weeks of life, respite to families and caregivers, and support in administrative efforts. The program currently relies on volunteers to help provide support services for patients and their families. Compassus volunteers are trained in the many aspects of hospice care and determine the time commitment they are willing to dedicate to patient and family care.
Many people become hospice volunteers after experiencing firsthand the compassionate and dedicated care Compassus provided to a family member or loved one. For those interested in learning more about volunteering in hospice, please visit compassus.com or call the Newnan program at 770-252-4999.
