COLUMBIA, Mo. – Paul Tatum, MD, medical director for the Compassus program serving Columbia, Missouri, and associate professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Missouri, has been appointed to the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) Board of Directors.
AAHPM is the professional organization for physicians specializing in hospice and palliative medicine, nurses, and other healthcare providers. Since 1988, the organization has dedicated itself to advancing hospice and palliative medicine and improving the care of patients with serious illness.
Alongside other board members, Tatum will lead the organization’s education and training, resources, networking, and advocacy efforts.
“I am honored to be appointed to the AAHPM Board of Directors,” said Tatum. “In this position, I aim to fulfill the organization’s mission to expand access of patients and families to high-quality hospice and palliative care through education and public policy.”
Tatum also serves on the AAHPM State Health Policy Working Group and is founding chair of the organization’s Geriatrics Special Interest Group.
