Compassus – Sheboygan To Host “A Day Of Remembrance” For Veterans This Memorial Day

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – The Compassus program serving Sheboygan and the surrounding areas will host “A Day of Remembrance” on June 1 in partnership with Heritage Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Timed to coincide with Memorial Day week, the event will feature the Grafton American Legion Post 355, which will demonstrate a 21-gun salute, POW/MIA table setting, flag folding and Playing of Taps.

Heritage cares for four veterans in its nursing home and another four in its rehabilitation program. Members of Compassus and Heritage will honor these veterans for their service during the program.

“Memorial Day is a time to acknowledge sacrifice, to grieve for those lost and to provide comfort and support for their loved ones, the importance of which those of us who work in hospice particularly appreciate,” said Melinda Dlapa, executive director of Compassus – Sheboygan. “We are so proud to serve our veteran patients and their families.”

One out of four dying Americans is a veteran. Compassus is committed to improving end-of-life care for American veterans, including those who reside at Heritage, by meeting their unique needs with honor, sensitivity and respect.
