TULLAHOMA, Tenn. – The Compassus program serving Tullahoma and the surrounding areas will host an open house on Thursday, January 26, at the Compassus – Tullahoma location. This free event is open to the public and will provide an overview of hospice and palliative care, including services, benefits, eligibility and coverage. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions regarding these types of care.
Hospice and palliative care both combine quality medical care with the emotional support patients and families need when facing serious or life-limiting illness. While hospice provides an additional layer of support to meet their physical, emotional and spiritual needs at the end of life, palliative care focuses on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness and is offered alongside curative treatments.
“Talking about about end-of-life care can be challenging,” said Julia Logan-Mayes, volunteer coordinator of Compassus – Tullahoma. “Our goal is to give community members the information they need to make the care decision that is right for their loved ones.”
