The Compassus program serving Lafayette and the surrounding areas recognizes Chaplain David Rousse during Pastoral Care Week, October 22-28, 2017, for providing the highest level of spiritual care and guidance for hospice patients and their families. Rousse has been working at Compassus since October 2007.
“We are proud to recognize David’s tireless efforts to go above and beyond in providing compassionate support and exceptional spiritual counseling to our patients and their families,” said Paul Cheramie, executive director for Compassus – Lafayette. “Hospice chaplains offer spiritual support – directly or in collaboration with a patient’s or family’s own clergy or spiritual counselor – to provide a more meaningful end-of-life experience. David’s positive and caring attitude, exceptional ability to understand and comfort patients, and willingness to support colleagues makes him an integral part of our Compassus team.”
Regardless of spiritual, religious or cultural background, Pastoral Care Week celebrates those who provide spiritual support to those receiving hospice or palliative care wherever they call home and in many other settings including hospitals, long-term care facilities and nursing homes.
Compassus – Lafayette will recognize local pastoral care providers next week by presenting them with framed certificates of appreciation for their dedication to the patients and families they serve.
