Lisa is a native of the Beautiful North Georgia mountains. She has worked for Compassus for six years beginning as the Volunteer Coordinator and becoming Team Coordinator three years ago. She loves meeting and talking to families who call the office.
Hospice Care Consultant
Joe Chancey has been a Hospice Care Consultant with Compassus for six years. Prior to that, he was as a realtor in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains, becoming a member of the Northeast Georgia Board of Realtors and a member of the Million Dollar Club. He is currently a board member for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Joe attends The Ridge Community Church in Blue Ridge and often serves in foreign missions and outreach.
Rev. Thomas (Tommy) Deal, Jr., MA, has been a Hospice Chaplain since December 2014. Prior to that he led his faith group’s national disaster response, the Florida affiliate’s missional connections and served three local Baptist Congregations in Virginia, Georgia and Texas as Associate Pastor. Tommy also volunteers as a police chaplain in Dalton, Georgia. He is certified in crisis chaplaincy, critical incident stress management and disaster response chaplaincy. Tommy is married to Rev. Susan Deal, Minister of Music and Worship at First Baptist Church, Dalton, Georgia. They have two grown sons and twin grandbaby girls.
Chaplain And Volunteer Coordinator
Rev. Richard (Ricky) Studdard has been serving in hospice care for eleven years. His role as Chaplain as been a great experiences with families and co-workers. He currently serves as Chaplain and Volunteer Coordinator in the Lafayette GA, Calhoun GA and Ellijay GA. Offices. He is also currently serving as a pastor in Rome, GA.
Dr. McCurdy earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine and received his undergraduate degree from Shorter College in Rome. After finishing his internship and residency at the Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia, Dr. McCurdy moved to Jasper where he has lived and practiced for over 30 years. He is board-certified in family practice and in Hospice and Palliative care.
Dr. McCurdy takes a special interest in the interface between physical, emotional and spiritual health and is dedicated to assisting his patients in living a long, healthy, meaningful life. He also has a special interest in unexplained symptoms and problem diagnoses. He strongly believes in patient education and helping patients understand the complexities of their illnesses. In his spare time, Dr. McCurdy enjoys music and reading. He reads at least two books a week and stays current on many journals, newspapers, and magazines. He has four grown children and enjoys walks with his dog, Dr. Bud.
Dr. McCurdy has been the Hospice Compassus Medical Director for 7 years. His compassion and experience has enabled him to guide and educate our registered nurses as they help patients live comfortably and with the least amount of pain, in their final days insuring peace, education, and support to the families.
Jill Saranthus was born in Houma, LA. In 1997 she attended Our Lady of the Lake College in Baton Rouge, LA. Acquiring her BSN in 2000 she then furthered her education obtaining an MSN at Kennesaw State University. After working at an internal medical office and as an ER nurse. Jill as a Nurse Practitioner joined Dr. McCurdy int a family practice in Jasper, GA. She resides in Jasper with her husband, 2 daughters, and 2 dogs. Jill likes to read, work in the garden, and watch the Atlanta Braves.
