What is the essence of life? To serve others and to do good.
Volunteers have a way of growing into invaluable members of the hospice team, no matter where they serve. Some give a few hours of time a month and others much more, but each volunteer is a gift to our patients and families.
Just over 60 percent of volunteers assisted with direct patient care, which can be as simple as sitting and talking with patients. About 20 percent of volunteers support clinical care behind the scenes and another 19 percent provide general program support.
In 2014, hospice volunteers devoted an average of 46.3 hours of time for the year.
